Day 1: 2010 X Games Slopestyle Results

Posted on January 28th, 2010 in events, general by Spencer

Day 1 is over and so are the X games for a couple unfortunate professional skiers. Since only the top 8 move up, the men’s slopestyle finals are going to be packed with the best. I wasn’t really impressed with the double flipping straight rail riding competition today. I am stoked to see Sammy and Tom throw down with more style Saturday. Check out the Skiing Slopestyle Men’s Final on ESPN 2 this Saturday, January 30 at 4 pm- 6 pm.

The women’s slopestyle field was quite a bit smaller so the finals were held today. Kaya Turski, Keri Herman, and Grete Eliassen rounded out the top 3 with no real surprises.

Russ Henshaw took number one at the first annual Barcelona Snow Show this weekend in Spain. It was a show down of double corks but that is what gets you paid these days. The video montage says it all. The setup looked awesome and with a 115 foot tall drop in there was no lack of speed. The only issue seemed to be the landing which didn’t hold up after a couple crashes. The event rolled on with Russ, Elias, and Tom killing it in the finals.
Results:
1. Russ Henshaw | 2. Elias Ambuhl | 3. Tom Wallisch | 4. TJ Schiller | 5. Andreas Håtveit | 6. Jon Olsson
7. Paddy Graham | 8. Patrick Hollaus | 9. Benedikt Mayr | 10. Noah Albaladejo

Ketchum, ID, October 29th, 2009 — After months of speculation, SCOTT USA would like to put the rumors to rest and announce that Tom Wallisch, the world’s #1 slopestyle skier and creator of the illest edits, is officially the newest member of the SCOTT International Ski Team. Wallisch is the first North American to be sponsored on SCOTT’s award winning skis. Wallisch will also represent SCOTT for goggles and ski poles.

“At just 22 years old, Tom has proven that he is a force in slopestyle and that he can throw down dominating movie segments,” comments Gabe Glosband, marketing director for SCOTT’s wintersport division. Wallisch’s resume is already stacked, he has appeared in numerous Level 1 Productions movies and has solid slopestyle competition results including victories at Dew Tour Northstar and the Dumont Cup. Tom was recognized as the #1 Ranked Slopestyle skier for 2008-09 season by the Association of Freeskiing Professionals. “Tom is the skier we wanted to be SCOTT’s first North American ski athlete. I can’t wait to watch him rip our skis onto the podium,” adds Kevin Kruse, SCOTT’s wintersport team manager.

“I couldn’t be more excited to be joining a company like SCOTT and to be riding their skis and rocking their eyewear and poles. I am really stoked to take my skiing to the next level with their help,” states Wallisch.

SEATTLE, WA – The most talked about park skier on the planet, Tom Wallisch (i.e. Todd Walnuts, The Pretzel Man, King of Afterbang) recently signed with Full Tilt Boots, solidifying his relationship with the brand. During the 08/09 season, Tom garnered victories at both the Dew Tour and Dumont Cup, as well as a $20k sponsorship from Coast Bodywash during its “Make Me Famous” contest all while rocking his Full Tilt Hot Doggers. With the Internet flooded with coverage of Wallisch’s undeniable skills and luminous presence, Full Tilt, couldn’t pass up the opportunity to work with a skier of such influential style and talent. The athlete and the company are stoked to take on the 09/10 season in full force.

“I’m just overall really stoked and really excited to be working with Full Tilt. They’ve got the best products out there, and it’s an awesome company to work with. I think we’ll be able to do big things together!” says Wallisch.

Says Full Tilt Boots Team Manager Josh Malczyk: “I’m stoked Tom is keeping his feet in Full Tilts. His unique style, air sense, and raw natural talent make him one of greatest freestyle skiers of this generation. He makes a perfect addition to our constantly growing team of athletes, whose skiing is simply taken to the next level in these boots.”

New Zealand Open Ski Slopestyle Results

Bobby Brown nabs 1st, Tom Wallisch gets 2nd, and Henrik Harlaut rock out in third this weekend at the New Zealand Open. SkiersRealm is stoked that the comp season has gotten under way with such a young yet loaded podium. Tom Wallisch continues skiing at an unbelievable level. How he stays focused and in a competitive mindset is beyond me. Tom is on a roller coaster ride to the top, but Bobby, Henrik and PK will not be far behind if not right beside him. These four skiers are a new breed and will be hashing it out all season long. Next up will be the Freestyle.ch this September in Zurich.

UPDATE: Tom Wallisch Joins Scott Skis International Team, Read More about Tom Wallisch!

What would Tom Wallisch do? Posts have been flying around the web today (NewSchoolers.com) that T Wallisch is dumping ski sponsor Amplid for Scott Skis. There are some even crazier stories that Burton might be producing some new Hyphy sticks. Over Jakes dead body.

Although this sounds more like a rumor than fact it is worth investigating. Right now Scott Skis website is down which only fuels the fire that Tim Russell might have another team mate very soon. SkiersRealm will keep watching to see if we can find any facts to substantiate the story.

Tom Wallisch has rad style and when paired up with a technical skier like Dumont you get the best representation of Team America. This video shows off what Tom and Simon bring to FreeSkiing. I would have been stoked on the original team America consisting of Tanner Hall and Sammy Carlson but this is the next best thing. Stoked to see this vid. I think you will be too.
