Simon Dumont Injured In X Games 14 Pipe Practice

Posted on January 27th, 2010 in events, general, skiers by Spencer

Ture Lillegraven

Bad news already at winter X Games 14. Skier Simon Dumont was injured at the end of super pipe practice Tuesday morning. From what I have read it sounds like he misjudged a double flip and bounced all the way down to the flat bottom. Don’t you worry fans, Simon was checked out by medical staff and is said to be ready… for a day off and some good old fashion rest. Mr. Dumont is still scheduled to compete in Friday’s Big Air, Saturday’s SuperPipe, and Sunday’s SuperPipe High Air. I am hoping for a speedy recovery since Simon is my pick to win the newest event, Super Pipe Big Air.

Simon Dumont And Tom Wallisch Team America JOSS Video

Posted on April 29th, 2009 in general by Spencer

Tom Wallisch has rad style and when paired up with a technical skier like Dumont you get the best representation of Team America. This video shows off what Tom and Simon bring to FreeSkiing. I would have been stoked on the original team America consisting of Tanner Hall and Sammy Carlson but this is the next best thing. Stoked to see this vid. I think you will be too.

Tom Wallisch Takes Dumont Cup Home

Posted on April 12th, 2009 in general by Spencer

Just when you thought Tom Wallisch couldn’t blow up anymore this year he goes and wins the RedBull Dumont Cup held this weekend in Sunday River Maine. Looks like the 2007 SuperUnknown winner’s hard work in Park City has payed off. The amount of coverage Tom has received since his win at the XGames has been astounding. If there has been a major event in the freeskiing world Tom has been there. This weekend he brought his technical yet smooth style to Sunday River and impressed the judges enough to bring home the $10K prize. Good work T$.

Powder Video Awards and Reader Poll Results 2009

Posted on February 16th, 2009 in general by Spencer

BEST MALE PERFORMANCE
The Winner:
Sage Cattabriga-Alosa
Under the Influence
Teton Gravity Research

In one of the closest contests of the 2009 Powder Video Awards, Sage Cattabriga-Alosa edged out Tanner Hall for Best Male. As one panel voter put it, “For doing what he does best, Sage out-shined everone.” Or, as another said, “If Sage doesn’t win, this thing is a joke.” Sage combined steep, technical, scary Alaska lines with deep Wyoming powder shots and spins and flips to put together a mind-blowing segment for TGR’s Under the Influence. This is Sage’s second Best Male Performance award. He also won in 2004 for his role in TGR’s The High Life, a year after winning Breakthrough Performer.

Nike 6.0 Ski Takes Winter X Games

Posted on January 30th, 2009 in general by Spencer

The 6.0 team started it’s X Games week off right with Simon taking Bronze in the Superpipe. He had come into the contest, naturally, expecting Gold, as many others expected as well. And each of his three runs looked golden until its very last hit, or lack thereof. Just like last year, Simon was by many accounts the best skier in the contest, just without enough half pipe to show everything he could do. Although he had it dialed in practice, Simon went a little bigger in the contest and ended up running out of pipe before he could get his last-hit alley-oop nine. Oh well, third is pretty sick, right? READ MORE…

K2 Skis PK Hunder Wins London Freeze Big Air

Posted on October 24th, 2008 in general by Spencer

Thanks to Jacob Wester for the short video to keep us up to date. 4th place went to Jacob Wester, 3rd went to Richard Permin, and Simon Dumont took 2nd. The top of the podium went to the skier that has been killing it lately, K2 Ski’s PK Hunder. Looks like a good event went down in London. It sure made the Icer Air look like a joke.
