We were beginning to wonder if summer would arrive on Mt. Hood. After countless June evenings building fires to dry our boots and clothes we wanted the rain to stop and sun to begin. The change in weather would also help the snow, freezing at night and thawing during the day would make for perfect conditions.

Somebody somewhere flipped the switch and summer is now in high gear. The skiing has been incredible with very firm snow early in the morning and softening spring corn the remainder of the day.

With perfect conditions, Andy Mahre, Sean Decker, Kevin Malone and I set out for a day of ski testing. We tested a new Factory Team sidecut and our goal for the day was to determine which ski out of the 4 performed best in the park-pipe and in various all mountain conditions. The first round of testing was successful and were now anxiously awaiting the second round of skis.

Wherever you are and whatever you are doing I would consider packing the car or booking a flight and heading out to Mt.Hood. Adjust your plans, make other arrangements but do yourself a favor and get out to Mt. Hood for some summer skiing and be sure to stop by the K2 House.
