Seth Morrison The Ordinary Skier Trailer By Oakley

Posted on January 28th, 2011 in Skiers by Spencer

Oakley has been working on a documentary project with Seth Morrison titled, The Ordinary Skier.
For Seth Morrison, skiing is much more than a sport or job, it’s a way of life. It’s not a privilege he was born with; it’s a passion he discovered on his own. Through hard work and dedication, Morrison has become one of the best skiers in the world. The Ordinary Skier traces his journey from the middle class suburbs of Chicago to the Colorado Rockies and into the underground ski-bum subculture that would eventually become Freeskiing. This is the story of how a collection of misfits turned an elite sport upside down, and how an ordinary kid chased his dream and became one of skiing’s most iconic heroes.

Backcountry.com just signed rocker Seth Morrison onto their pro team. I’m not sure how other pro teams work with their athletes, but at Backcountry they need to get mixed up with the online community, provide unique pics and stories, and write product reviews if they want to get paid. Seth shouldn’t have a problem with that seeing as how he has a kickass blog.

“I’m excited to be a part of the Backcountry Team. I’ve been going to Backcountry.com for years to check out reviews and see the newest latest all in one place,” said Seth. “Stoked to see all of my pro model gear on the site, it lets me know that we’re creating needed products for today’s skier.”

I bet he writes lengthy product reviews of his pro model gear and one word reviews of every other ski: “meh.” Backcountry.com is stoked to have this iconic, badass skier as part of their team. I hope he survives the spanking machine Backcountry.com Athlete hazing ritual.

BEST MALE PERFORMANCE
The Winner:
Sage Cattabriga-Alosa
Under the Influence
Teton Gravity Research

In one of the closest contests of the 2009 Powder Video Awards, Sage Cattabriga-Alosa edged out Tanner Hall for Best Male. As one panel voter put it, “For doing what he does best, Sage out-shined everone.” Or, as another said, “If Sage doesn’t win, this thing is a joke.” Sage combined steep, technical, scary Alaska lines with deep Wyoming powder shots and spins and flips to put together a mind-blowing segment for TGR’s Under the Influence. This is Sage’s second Best Male Performance award. He also won in 2004 for his role in TGR’s The High Life, a year after winning Breakthrough Performer.

Seth Morrison Doing What Seth Morrison Does Best

Posted on September 30th, 2008 in General by Jason

His name is synonymous with big, aggressive lines, insane airs, and style in spades. When it comes to making turns off piste, it’s an easy case to argue that Seth Morrison is the best in the business.

For the skeptic in you that needs a little more convincing though, we’ve got a clip of Seth’s segment in the new TGR flick, Under the Influence. You can download the video podcast here (iTunes Store Link) for free, so check it out.

They won’t make you ride like Seth, but chances are you’ll have more fun on his signature K2 ObSETHed Skis than you’re having right now.
