CloseCR Johnson Passes Away In Skiing Accident
Posted on February 24th, 2010 in General, Skiers by SpencerI really hate to report bad news, especially this kinda news. Freeski legend, CR Johnson has passed away today while skiing at Squaw Valley. As reported by FreeSkier Mag he was dropping a cliff at the Light Towers and went over the front on the landing. This sent him over the rocks leading with his head and neck. Ski patrol responded quickly but details of his condition at that point have yet to be released.
Peace be with the Johnson family and friends in this time of great distress. Our thoughts go out to the entire ski industry who will be deeply saddened by CR’s death. RIP
Red Bull Linecatcher 2010 – Vars, France
Posted on January 14th, 2010 in Events, General by Spencer
The Red Bull Linecatcher event in Vars, France was quite amazing this year. The new competition format catered to the style of free skiing’s top athletes. For the past couple of years it seems more and more pros are leaving the terrain park for natural hits in the back country. The course in Vars had a big mountain feel with select takeoffs throughout giving everyone the freedom to choose a line and hit huge transfers. Frenchman Candide Thovex took 1st by sticking his final run, K2 Ski’s Sean Pettit placed 2nd but maybe should have been a little higher with his mind blowing run, and CR Johnson rounded out the podium with the bronze.
