Backcountry Ski Sensation Sean Pettit Signs Multi-Year Partnership Extension with K2 Skis.
World-renowned freeskier Sean Pettit has finalized a blockbuster partnership agreement with
the manufacturer of the only skis that he’s ever used, K2 Skis, of Seattle, WA.
The new extension to Pettit’s current sponsorship will feature both the ski and helmet
category, and carry forth into the year 2016, when the 2010 Powder Magazine “Skier of the
Year” will turn 24 years of age.
Pettit has numerous career milestones to his credit including opening and closing film
segments with industry-leading Matchstick Films, several Championship contest results in
Red Bull Cold Rush and other events, and the cover of Powder Magazine (“Minor Threat” /
February 2011), among others. He says that the decision to remain with K2 was an easy one
for him, and didn’t require a lot of consideration.
“K2 has been there with me since the beginning,” says Pettit. “When I was younger and just
figuring out what skiing was all about, several of my idols were on their Factory Team. Before
I knew it, they were giving me skis. So to be part of this family genuinely means a lot to me.
The staff at K2 are my friends, and I believe we share a lot of the same spirit in what we do
together every day.”
For K2, the decision to make Pettit an even bigger piece of their brand was a simple one.
Says VP-Marketing, Jeff Mechura, “Sean has been with K2 from a very early age and his
natural talent, hard work, creativity and passion has made him one of the sports best
athletes. He is a great fit for the K2 brand on so many levels and his name flows seamlessly
into the lineage of legendary K2 athletes both past and present. We look forward to having
fun working with Sean on a multitude of projects in the years to come.”
K2’s highly esteemed Factory Ski team includes legends like Seth Morrison, Pep Fujas and
the late Shane McConkey. Please visit www.K2skis.com for more information.
