Tanner Hall Signs A RockStar Contract

Posted on December 6th, 2012 in Skiers by Spencer

@RockStarEnergy Drinks welcome Tanner Hall to the team. He will join the likes of Sammy Carlson, Jen Hudak, Nick Martini, Matt Walker, and Phil Casabon. @TannerHall tweeted his departure from Redbull back in August while skiing in New Zealand. His 11 year sponsorship with RedBull gave him legacy status within the action sports community. Following the lead of Shawn White, THall decided it was time to seek greener grass.

It was only a matter of time before a new energy drink partnership would be announced. Honestly I am shocked that he is not bottling some sort of home brew concoction from the island of Jamaica. As Tanner has transformed into one of the most diverse skiers we have ever seen it has become hard for a company like RedBull to market him. I do think RockStar is a better fit for the time being. Tanner is going to start competing again and the Yellow Star will be front and center. This could be one of the most exciting competition seasons in FreeSki history.

K2 Ski Boots Coming 2013/2014 Season

Posted on November 30th, 2012 in Gear by Spencer

K2 SpYne 130 All-Mountain Boot | K2 Pinnacle 130 Freeride Boot

K2 Skis is pushing into new categories for the 2013/2014 season with a new boot line built from the ground up. I was surprised that they would come out with a goggle line this season but when you have a shrinking market the only way to grow is to take market share. There are only so many skis and poles that can be sold through their current dealer network.

Personally I thought K2 boots would be FullTilt’s with a mellower feel. I was wrong and am stoked that they are have developed their own product which will allow FullTilt to keep on doing what they are doing. I cannot wait to get a pair of the K2 Pinnacle 130 Freeride Boots for review.

Dane Tudor Moves to Scott Skis (Salomon’s Team Is Shrinking)

Posted on November 30th, 2012 in Skiers by Spencer

From backcountry to the park, Dane Tudor, is versatile. Dane was the part of the Salomon Ski team that I was actually stoked to watch in the videos. Scott skis does have a couple new hammers in the line but nothing that will showcase Dane’s skills like something like a Atomic Bentchetler or K2 Pettitor.

Just like Sammy Carlson and Simon Dumont before him it was time to find greener pastures. The ski program at Salomon has been less than what we would call, rad in the last couple years. How can the creators of the first twin tip ski lose focus so quickly?

Tim Durtschi Getting Dirty In Idaho (Prospecting Idaho Self Edit)

Posted on November 21st, 2012 in Skiers by Spencer

Tim Durtschi is one of my favorite skiers to watch on those Atomic Bent Chetler Skis. He makes skiing in the backcountry look like a day in the park. Thanks to Smith Tim has been traveling to to the Sun Valley area for the past three seasons to hit a plethora of natural hits and fun lines. This zone has been featured in the Prospecting Idaho edits. Here is a taste of what is available for the fortunate ones.

Armada was officially incorporated 10 years ago on November 1, 2002.

These guys know how to cut an edit. The newest view of scraps from Point and Shoot Japan makes us wonder how much footage gets left on Eric’s hard drive after a movie is produced. Thank you for not wasting these “ski shots and hilarious moments”. See you on Mt. Hood.

SkiersRealm was more than impressed with the 2012 offering from a company that is known for their branded heli ski jackets and race suits. WOW. These guys and gals have done their homework giving skiers in the back country what they need to stay comfortable and stay alive.
