In the spirit of spreading the La Niña stoke I wanted to give some props to the riders who just can’t wait till the lifts are turning. Whether you’re post holin’, split boarding, touring or even using one of those gas powered doohickeys, we’re all out there for the same reasons. And if you aren’t into that off-piste sorta thing, well I bet these shots I grabbed off Skiingthebackcountry.com probably will make you start thinking you should be. Much thanks to Powderjunky for documenting. I was kicking myself for not being out there yesterday morning. After seeing these I think I will continue on kicking.

In other news: Rumor has it Mt. Bachelor will open by Thanksgiving at the latest. I’m sure there are a lot of factors other than snow that dictate how early that day could be, but early as possible is the word on the street. Look for some sort of press release out soon. I do know this though, the snow doth fall as we speak!

Here’s and update on Bachelor Opening day…..The countdown to the start of the 2010/11 season is underway! We don’t want to jinx it, but if the current La Nina conditions are any indication (a 3 foot settled base already at mid-mountain), we will be open with great conditions and tons of terrain for the Thanksgiving Holiday. Start making those early season plans and visit http://www.mtbachelor.com often for the latest snow conditions and opening projections.

So not much new news but hey it’s something.

Looks like this season is going to rock. Even if I could roll to mt. Bachelor and hit some rails this thanks giving I would be happy. If you get a chance check out the new match stick movie, “the way I see it”. Good stoke for winter.
