Jackson Hole Edit, Team Fardrift 2010-11

Posted on November 22nd, 2011 in General, Skiers by Spencer

I was able to chat with Sam Schwartz and crew about their epic 2010 – 2011 season in Jackson Hole. Believe it or not, the majority of skiers in this edit are under the age of 16. You wouldn’t know it from the way they charge down the mountain. Most of the kids on NewSchoolers.com can only dream of attending high school in such a place. This crew is living the dream. The opportunity to choose between Teton Pass, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, or Grand Targhee Resort is mind blowing to me. The learning curve for backcountry and sidecountry skiing in that area is steep. Yet another benefit to growing up in such a prime location. (more…)

Simon Dumont Leaves Salomon For Head Skis

Posted on November 9th, 2011 in Skiers by Spencer

WOW, Simon leaves Salomon for Head skis. What a crazy turn of events for the soon to be Olympian Half Pipe Skier. Jon Olson has to be stoked to have Simon on the team. Sounds like they were able to swoop him away from Salomon Sports with a little wine and dine. In the video Simon says that he has never been to a ski production facility. How has a skier with so many pro model skis never seen how they are constructed? I am excited for the change. This might be the push that Simon needed to take his already impressive skiing to the next level. Congrats on the move my man.

More than worth it because the series takes a more in-depth look at the behind the scenes pressures and lifestyle that comes with being a professional skier. Props!
