Sammy Carlson grabs his first Winter X Games gold metal. The Salomon team rider shined in the men’s ski Slopestyle final at Winter X 15. Australian Russ Henshaw was able to throw down for the silver and Norway’s Andreas HĂ„tveit took the bronze.

I previewed the first news conference for WX15 and a little ski halfpipe practice session earlier this afternoon. Give it a look to get in the mood for the production on ESPN this weekend. I haven’t seen this much coverage of the Winter X-Games since there were modified shovels and motorcycles with spikes in the mix.

In a little less than two weeks time we’ll be making the annual pilgrimage to Denver for the Snowsports Retailers SIA Snow Show, which is really the first chance to see all of the new gear for 2012 from every manufacturer in the industry in one place. We’ll be there with cameras in tow to capture the latest and great of the new gear you can expect to see on the snow for next winter, so consider this your chance to get an inside look at what’s coming down the pipeline.
