SkiersRealm Official Review: ON3P Jeffrey Skis
The ON3P Jeffrey skis were my first experience on a pair of ON3P skis. Based out of Portland, Oregon (home state represent!), ON3P skis has been gaining popularity and showing up in various Industry media more and more these days. So it's only natural that I've been wanting to get my hands on a pair of ON3P skis for a while now. The ON3P Jeffrey skis were my first experience and to be honest I wasn't really sure what to expect. But I can say that I was pleasantly surprised with them.
The first thing I noticed about the ON3P Jeffrey skis once I hit the run was how much they wanted to get on edge. These skis begged you to lean over and press those edges into the snow. And once you did, they did not want to let go, which might sound bad but with the ON3P Jeffrey's they were such a stable ski that it was I was totally comfortable letting them take the reigns. At high speeds and in the variable types of snow I felt like I could point the skis down hill and really open them up . They just loved to charge and had no hesitation about what was in their path. The skis actually performed better the faster you went, regardless of what kind of snow I was in. Which, when I was cruising was awesome, however once I slowed down I felt like I had to put in a decent amount of effort to get the ski to turn. Not to say that it wouldn't turn, just that the skier had to do a bit more to initiate them at slow speeds. Other than that, there wasn't much to complain about with the ON3P Billy Goats. At first I did notice the swing weight in the ski seemed to be a bit slow, but they were also mounted -2mm back from center mount so I had a lot more ski behind me than I'm normally used to. After about 3 runs I stopped thinking about the swing weight and felt completely comfortable on them. So it was probably more just me getting used to a new ski in a different mounting position.
Another big benefit to the ON3P Jeffrey's was that they love to pop off anything. ON3P attributes this pop to the ski's core which is 100% bamboo with carbon stringers. I just know I definitely could feel the springs in the skis. Without a doubt the ON3P Jeffrey's had a playfulness to them that you don't always find in a ski that also loves to charge. The stableness of the ski was also helpful on take offs, I really felt like I could count on the jeffrey's to be tight on take off, with no worries about the skis squirreling around on the lips throwing me off balance in the air.
To sum it all up, the ON3P Jeffrey's skied like this:
ON3P skis Jeffrey - Overall impression:
Fun ski. Unique in that they want to charge and feel stable even in the variable snow but still have a lot of pop and playfulness to them.
Pros:
charger, love to rail out turns both long and quick short turns, poppy & playful
Cons:
Takes a bit more effort to initiate turns at slower speeds.
